Patterns From the Past

In Celebration of National Women’s Day, our art group turned to their own heritage and home for inspiration.

Singer Phe B, (Instagram: @PheBmusic) performing at the Exhibition.

The Exhibition was a wonderful success, with each art piece spotlighted, and each poem performed in spoken word form. The gallery transformed into an immersive experience, with live music performances, DJ, bar, and a documentary-style film room.

The collective were asked to explore heritage, identity and the home during their art workshops, which paved an intricate venture through time, the self, and the mixture of history and the continued journey. Each wall was decorated with homages to childhoods, perceptions of heritage, and ‘patterns of the past’. While each artist explored through an entirely different route of concept and medium, what was continuous was the flow of the personal. Each poem, painting and print overflowed with themes of the self and the ties to each creator was undeniable.
